Asana connector is now available in Beta in Lakeflow Connect

Bring work management data from Asana into Databricks with the new managed Lakeflow Connect connector.

O que mudou

The managed Asana connector lets you ingest work management data such as workspaces, teams, projects, tasks, portfolios, and goals directly into Databricks using Lakeflow Connect.

Use cases

Imagine you need to centralize company project tracking and task data in the lakehouse to combine it with operational metrics.

  • Ingest workspaces, projects, and task data from Asana.
  • Centralize portfolios and goals information into Unity Catalog tables.
  • Automate pipeline creation using the UI or API.

How to use

To enable the feature, a workspace admin must turn on the connector from the Previews page and configure OAuth user-to-machine (U2M) authentication.

CREATE CONNECTION my_asana_connection
TYPE ASANA
OPTIONS (
  oauth_client_id 'your_client_id',
  oauth_client_secret 'your_client_secret'
);

What happens in this code:

  1. Creates a connection object in Unity Catalog.
  2. Stores authentication credentials securely.
  3. Prepares access for ingestion pipeline creation.

Limitations and requirements

  • Stage: Beta.
  • Requires prior activation by a workspace admin from the Previews page.
  • Supports full-refresh ingestion only, with no change tracking or SCD type 2 support.
  • Supported authentication method: OAuth user-to-machine (U2M) only.

Using it in a pipeline

This connector fits into the Bronze layer of your lakehouse, fetching the current state of Asana tasks and projects regularly to power productivity reports and analytics in the Gold layer.
