Connect external geospatial services in Microsoft Fabric Maps

Microsoft Fabric Maps now supports connecting to external GIS feature services and standards-based geospatial services.

O que mudou

The mapping feature in Microsoft Fabric now allows you to connect hosted GIS and standards-based external feature services. This lets you integrate external geospatial data directly into your maps.

Use cases

Imagine you need to display location data hosted on an external GIS server alongside your lakehouse tables. You can use external feature services to:

  • Load geospatial layers from external sources.
  • Visualize open-standard-based data on maps.

How to use

Since the release note only announces the general functionality in Preview without providing specific code blocks, refer to the official documentation to configure the connection through the Fabric Maps interface.

Limitations and requirements

  • This feature is currently in Public Preview.
  • Requires Microsoft Fabric Maps and supported external feature services configuration.
