Use cases

Imagine you have an updated AI model running in Snowpark Container Services and want to test it with real production data without risking incorrect responses to your customers. With the shadow traffic gateway, you can send all core requests to the stable version while mirroring a percentage of them to the new service.

  • Evaluate challenger services using real production request patterns
  • Drop responses from shadow endpoints so they are not returned to end clients
  • Route ingress requests to multiple endpoints behind a single host name

Limitations and requirements

  • Public Preview feature available to all accounts.
  • Default limit is a maximum of 5 endpoints per gateway (contact support for additional endpoints).
  • Gateways currently do not support CORS configuration, CSP headers, or caller's rights.
  • Access control is managed by granting the USAGE privilege on the gateway object.
