One-step clean room creation with identity resolution partners

Databricks now lets you create ready-to-use packaged clean rooms with approved identity resolution providers like LiveRamp and The Trade Desk in a single step without exposing raw data.

O que mudou

Databricks now allows users to set up packaged clean rooms with pre-approved identity resolution partners directly from the interface. The provider is preconfigured as the package provider, letting you link your data assets and run identity workflows immediately without manual invitations.

Use cases

Imagine your marketing team needs to match customer data against industry identity graphs (such as LiveRamp or The Trade Desk) without revealing raw PII or exposing the provider's proprietary matching logic. This feature allows you to:

  • Deploy a preconfigured collaborative room with an approved partner in one step.
  • Execute provider algorithms (notebooks and JARs) while keeping their code private from your organization.
  • Maintain strict data boundary: the provider cannot see your raw input tables, and you only receive the authorized shared output tables.

How to use

Creation is performed directly through the workspace UI without custom scripts:

  1. In your Databricks workspace, navigate to Catalog.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click Share > Clean Rooms.
  3. Under Identity Resolution Providers, pick your provider (Acxiom, Adstra, LiveRamp, or The Trade Desk).
  4. Choose the cloud region for the central clean room and optionally configure a clean room name (lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores only).
  5. Click Create Clean Room.

Once created, the clean room opens with you as the consumer:

  1. Click Add Input Data to link your Unity Catalog tables or volumes.
  2. Trigger the run using the provider's packaged jobs.
  3. Access the resolved datasets via the shared output schema.

Limitations and requirements

  • Stage: Generally Available (GA).
  • Privileges: Requires the CREATE CLEAN ROOM privilege on your Unity Catalog metastore.
  • Metastore: Collaborators cannot share the same metastore account.
  • Account setting: On Enterprise tier accounts or Azure Premium tier, an account admin may need to enable Cleanroom Identity Resolution Partners on the account console Previews page.
  • Packaged mode: Packaged mode is fixed upon room creation and cannot be modified later; auto-approval rules are disabled for all participants.
  • Network policies: Consumers should review serverless egress policies before sharing sensitive tables to verify external network access boundaries.
