Share metric views with users in other accounts using OpenSharing

You can now include metric views in OpenSharing shares to share them with external Databricks accounts and metastores.

O que mudou

OpenSharing in Unity Catalog now supports sharing metric views with users in other Databricks accounts or metastores. ### Use cases Imagine you need to expose standardized aggregated business rules and metrics to external partners or other workspaces without duplicating base tables. With this feature, you can:- Include metric views in a new or existing share.- Allow external recipients to consume centrally governed metrics.- Maintain direct access control via Unity Catalog. ### How to use You can create a share and add assets using SQL or Catalog Explorer. In a Databricks notebook or the SQL query editor, create the share object: sql CREATE SHARE IF NOT EXISTS my_share COMMENT "Sales metrics sharing"; What happens in this code: 1. The CREATE SHARE statement initializes a new share object in Unity Catalog. 2. The optional COMMENT parameter adds a description for easy identification. To add assets or manage the share, use Catalog Explorer by navigating to the OpenSharing tab in the Catalog pane. ### Limitations and requirements - Feature in Beta stage. - Requires the CREATE SHARE privilege in the Unity Catalog metastore. - To add assets to a share, you must be the share owner and have USE CATALOG, USE SCHEMA, and SELECT privileges on the target asset.
