Snowflake App Runtime is generally available to build and deploy Node.js and Next.js web applications directly with direct data access and built-in security.

O que mudou

Use cases

Imagine you need to build a custom interactive portal or a multi-step workflow that goes beyond a standard dashboard, without having to manage servers or configure authentication from scratch.

With this release, you can:

  • Build Node.js and Next.js web applications directly on Snowflake.
  • Access tables and warehouses without building API layers or ETL pipelines.
  • Use Cortex Code to generate application code from natural language.
  • Publish the app to a live URL backed by single sign-on (SSO).

How to use

To initialize the configuration and deploy your application using the CLI, run:

snow app setup
snow app deploy

What happens in this code:

  1. The snow app setup command generates the app.yml manifest file for the project.
  2. The snow app deploy command runs the upload, build phases, and returns a live Application Service URL.

Limitations and requirements

  • Generally available (GA).
  • Focused on Node.js and Next.js apps (Python support is planned).
  • Available in commercial regions for AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Not available in government regions or on trial accounts.
  • Inherits role-based access control (RBAC) and SSO settings directly from your Snowflake account.
