Snowflake data lineage now displays upstream connections for Cortex Agents. You can trace the complete path from base tables, through Cortex Analyst semantic views and Cortex Search services, to the agent consuming the data.
Use cases
Imagine you need to audit where an AI agent retrieves data to answer users. With this feature, you can:
- Trace the exact origin of structured and unstructured data feeding the agent.
- View semantic views and search services positioned upstream in the lineage tree.
- Validate dependencies before modifying production tables.
Limitations and requirements
- Snowflake records lineage relationships when you create the agent or commit a new version.
- Agents whose most recent version was committed before this change will not appear in lineage until a new version is committed.
