Use cases

Imagine you need to control individual user spending on AI services to prevent unexpected budget overruns. With this feature, you can:

  • Define weekly per-user credit limits alongside daily and monthly limits.
  • Automatically block users who reach their weekly cap.
  • Configure notification thresholds based on weekly consumption.

How to use

To set a weekly limit, pass the 'WEEKLY' argument to the quota configuration method.

CALL my_quota!SET_PER_USER_LIMIT(500, 'WEEKLY');

What happens in this code:

  1. The quota named my_quota is assigned a limit of 500 credits.
  2. The 'WEEKLY' argument specifies that the rule applies to the weekly cycle.
  3. The cycle follows the ISO week standard and resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC.

To remove the configured weekly limit:

CALL my_quota!UNSET_PER_USER_LIMIT('WEEKLY');

What happens in this code:

  1. The UNSET_PER_USER_LIMIT method removes the weekly restriction from the specified quota.

Limitations and requirements

The feature is Generally Available (GA). The weekly cycle follows the UTC calendar and resets on Mondays at 00:00 UTC. Each limit (daily, weekly, monthly) is evaluated independently.
